1. About Pollaja

Pollaja is a social polling platform that allows users to create, share, and participate in polls. We are committed to protecting user privacy.

2. Data We Collect

Account: Email address and password (if signing up with email), or name and email from your Google account.
Profile: Username, display name, profile photo, and bio that you provide.
Demographics (optional): Age range, country, region, city, and occupation, only if you fill them in during onboarding or in Settings. This data is not required.
Content: Polls, comments, options you create, and direct messages you send or receive.
Activity: Votes you cast, polls you save (bookmark), accounts you follow, and polls you repost (including any optional comment).
Notifications: Data needed to send in-platform notifications and weekly email digest (if enabled).
Technical: IP address to prevent double voting and spam.

3. How We Use Your Data

Run the Pollaja service and display poll results.
Prevent double voting and platform abuse.
Display your public profile (username, name, photo) as a poll creator.
Show demographic data in aggregate and anonymized form to enrich poll results.
Deliver direct messages between users.
Send in-platform notifications (comments, replies, mentions, new followers, new direct messages).
Send weekly email digest with popular polls (only if you enable this in Settings).
Improve our service quality.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is only shared with technical services we use to run Pollaja:

Supabase: authentication and database (AWS, Singapore region).
Railway: hosting and deployment (Singapore).
Resend: notification and digest email delivery (USA).
All providers are bound by data processing agreements and operate under internationally recognised security standards. Your data may be processed outside your country of residence.

5. Data Security & Retention

We use industry-standard encryption and trusted services to store and process your data. However, no system is 100% secure. We recommend not sharing sensitive personal information through direct messages. When you delete your account, your profile is deleted immediately, your polls are permanently deleted, your comments are anonymized (content removed, creator info removed), all your direct messages (sent and received) are permanently deleted, and your votes, follows, reposts, bookmarks, and notifications are deleted. IP addresses used for abuse prevention in vote and comment records are retained and are not automatically purged.

6. User Rights

You can set your profile to private at any time in Settings. A private profile does not display your poll list or follower list to other users.
You can disable the weekly email digest in Settings.
You can delete polls you created at any time. You can edit a poll's question and options only before anyone has voted.
You can delete comments you created.
You can delete your account independently through Settings → Delete Account. Your profile is removed immediately; polls and comments are anonymized.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at the email below.
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate data.
You have the right to object to or restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies to maintain your login session and to remember your language preference. Anonymous voting data is stored locally in the browser to prevent double voting without requiring an account. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

8. Policy Changes

We may update this privacy policy at any time. Significant changes will be communicated through our platform.
